REPUBLICAN OF THE YEAR
UPDATED DAILY!
Mojo10/27/08
(Press Release) Charleston Attorney General candidate Dan Greear has been awarded an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association for his support of hunters and gun owners in the state.
The “A” rating from NRA signifies Greear as being a pro- 2nd Amendment/pro-hunting candidate who supports sportsmen and gun owners.
“I am proud of my 'A' rating from the National Rifle Association,” said Greear.  “I am an avid supporter of hunting and gun owners’ rights and I absolutely believe the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution guarantees an individual’s right to bear arms."

Brennan Center urges states to follow Ireland's lead
The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University and the Verified Voting organization have advised secretaries of state to follow West Virginia's lead and re-calibrate touch-screen machines each morning during early voting and on Election Day.
The actions taken by Secretary of State Betty Ireland's office to ensure the fairness and accuracy of voting are steps being recommended to other states by respected, non-partisan organizations, demonstrating a recognition of Ireland's leadership on the issue.
According to an item posted at the Wired Blog Network, shortly after a handful of complaints were made in West Virginia about ES&S machines flipping votes from Obama to McCain, “three voters in Tennessee complained of a similar
problem on ES&S machines in their state, though they said their vote flipped in the opposite direction, from McCain to Obama.”
The Brennan Center and Verified Voting have contacted other states, saying, “There is a real chance that voters using iVotronic machines in your state will experience ‘vote flipping’ similar to that experienced by voters in West Virginia. You may already have provided guidance to your state’s iVotronic jurisdictions, but if not, we urge you to take actions similar to those taken by Secretary Ireland, to avoid voter confusion and frustration, and to ensure that every vote is cast as intended. Where a voter-verifiable paper available, voters should also be urged to confirm their candidate choices.”

Greear gets 'A' rating from National Rifle Association
(Press Release) The West Virginia Young Republicans Chairman Ashley Stinnett issued a public letter calling for Nick Casey and other members of the state Democrat leadership to explain to West Virginia voters they are not socialists in disguise. Here is a copy of that statement.
Democrats have controlled the West Virginia State Legislature for 76 years. However, Nick Casey and other leading Democrats feel a 28 member minority in the House is too big. Apparently, Casey feels West Virginia should be ran like Cuba or Iran where a one party rule is put in place to ensure total domination.
I think the question should be asked over and over again to Casey’s face; why do we rank last in so many categories? To sum it up, Republicans have not been able to write a state budget for nearly a century. This new ad campaign being spearheaded by Casey, calling for seven GOP legislatures to get the boot, is absurd and reflects the leadership of the Democrats here in West Virginia. Casey believes seven Republicans are so called “obstructionists” here in West Virginia. I want to know how Nick Casey can possibly believe that garbage.
Apparently Chairman Casey has not been reading his Civics 101 book or he would be well aware that the majority party in the legislature has the overriding power to stop a mere seven individuals. Actually I believe Casey is well aware of this fact. There is a greater issue at hand. This truth is coming from the Obama campaign all the way down here to West Virginia. The Democrats want a socialist driven country that parallels that of Iran or Cuba where one party rules everyone’s lives.
They (Democrats) want the government to control everyone like robots, telling them where and how to spend their money. Democrats have wrecked the economy and livelihood of West Virginia and its time this madness stop.
I urge the citizens of West Virginia to write a letter to Nick Casey and ask him why Democrats want to add to their already 44 member majority when we have nothing to show for it.

WV Young Republicans says Dems should tell why plan is not socialism
Dems, unions missing mark with odd message; court ruling on campaign bill likely to blame for switch
After committing about $65,000 targeting seven Republican House members, West Virginia Democrats and the West Virginia Building and Construction PAC are throwing another $30,000 at some of the same lawmakers, and some additional ones.
But the message being used on the direct mail campaign is odd indeed, focusing on the rather obscure Tier 2.5 water quality issue. The betting here is that Dems originally planned to target most of the Republicans with a message blasting them for opposing the campaign finance bill that was passed in special session in June. But when the court again proved the GOP right and recently shot the bill down for a second time, Democrats were forced to change their attack, choosing the less effective Tier 2.5 issue.
Democrat Chairman Nick Casey earlier this week told The Charleston Gazette that the Republicans being targeted "are considered 'obstructionists,' and have been outspoken in their opposition to the Democratic majority in the House. 'There are some folks in the Legislature who aren't team players,' he said, saying the seven incumbents are often uncooperative in reaching consensus on issues."
Get that? The Democrats want no one but robotic zombies (much like in that bizarre Joe Manchin campaign commercial) and they're aggressively trying to get rid of anyone who does not fit that mold.
Two days ago, that list included Delegates Tom Azinger, Craig Blair, Kelli Sobonya, Mitch Carmichael, Patti Schoen, Carol Miller and Mike Porter. Now, Delegate Patti Schoen and Sen. Clark Barnes have been added to the hit list, with the Dems spending about $20,000 against Schoen and Barnes, and the construction PAC aiming about another $10,000 against Blair, Carmichael and Azinger.
