Weeks featured speaker at lunch meet in Kanawha
Republican gubernatorial candidate Russ Weeks will be the featured speaker at the Kanawha County Republican lunch on Friday.
The luncheon will be held at noon at the Whitewater Grill at the Marriott. All Republicans are invited to attend.
Weeks is a former State Senator and author of the book, "No Strings Attached." He'll face the winner of the Democrat primary between Joe Manchin and Mel Kessler.

State party blowout will be held at Flatwoods and feature candidates from across the state, along with food, music

Republican Party Chairman Doug McKinney has announced a celebration on June 21st of West Virginia's 145th birthday coupled with a kickoff of the 2008 campaign featuring candidates from all across the state.
"Good music, great food and some rousing speakers," will be on hand, according to McKinney, as well as 1500 comfortable seats as well as hillside blanket seating,  and RV hookups for those who want to make a weekend of it.
"Plan now to be a part of the biggest Republican gathering ever," says the chairman.
The state party website will have additional details in the days ahead.

At Saturday exec meet, Lynn Staton will present report on the convention
A State of the Party address by Chairman Doug McKinney and a report on the presidential convention by Associate Chair Lynn Staton will highlight the meeting on Saturday of the West Virginia Republican Executive Committee.
The winter meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza in South Charleston. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.
Also on the agenda are treasurer and committee reports.
