Having Fun
With Mojo
Sorry, John, I'm
busy today, but I sure wish you luck!
Hey kids! Governor Manchin here! John Unger is announcing today that he's going to run against Shelley Moore Capito for Congress! Who is John Unger? He's a state Senator from Berkeley County! He's always thought he was pretty special, so now he wants to run for Congress! He invited me to be with him at his press conference today, but I'm really busy, what with proclamations to write, and so on. Plus, his announcement is at 4 o'clock! Oprah time! What's he thinking? Fortunately, he's doing his press conference outside the State Capitol Building, so I might be able to look out my bedroom window and watch it from there!

Unger makes GOP's day
Republicans hope to ensure Eastern Panhandle Democrat wins primary
Vandalia pickers get fill of Unger
Over the weekend, the State Capitol grounds were the site of the annual Vandalia Gathering, featuring musicians, arts and crafts, etc., from  around the state.
According to eyewitnesses, Sen. John Unger interrupted some of the musicians as they were relaxing and picking some bluegrass tunes for their own enjoyment. Unger introduced himself and launched into his umpteenth rehash of his Mother Teresa story, at which point one of the guitar pickers testily replied, "Mother who?"
Unger was apparently so annoying that eventually even he realized he was not a welcome visitor, so he finally went on his way.
State Sen. John Unger today is making the dreams come true of Republicans across the 2nd Congressional District by announcing his candidacy against Shelley Moore Capito.
Unger is making his announcement in Charleston, where he lives, completely snubbing his Eastern Panhandle Senate district.
The only fly in the ointment is the possibility of longtime Robert C. Byrd aide Anne Barth entering the race. Barth would win the Democrat primary comfortably over Unger, and her Kanawha County base would mean Capito would likely not carry Kanawha by the overwhelming margin she will versus Unger.
Unger's entire resume seems to consist of the fact that he once, according to him, participated in a project with Mother Teresa, and his endless telling and retelling of the tale has proven more effective than Sominex for more than one audience over the years.
Unger will reportedly be accompanied today by Congressmen Alan Mollohan and Nick Joe Rahall, but both are stressing their appearance is not an endorsement. Gov. Joe Manchin is apparently, and conspicuously, sitting out the event.
IN CASE BLUE BOOKS RUN SHORT -- As demonstrated above, state Sen. John Unger will have a fallback publication to send to West Virginia voters in the likely event enough tax dollars cannot be found to publish enough Blue Books for him to send to every voter in the 2nd Congressional District. With the governor as co-author, taxpayer funding of "How To Be A Media Darling For Dummies" should not be a problem.
GOP summer meeting in Huntington 7/14
