Having Fun

Preparing for my next big adventure
Hey kids! Governor Manchin here! Most of you probably remember my dangerous and exciting turkey hunt a few weeks ago, when I singlehandedly, with no help from anyone else, personally shot and killed that most sly and deceptive of fowl. Next in my sights will be a creature I have long hoped to pursue ever since my friend Mr. Blankenship first told me about it -- the wily and elusive snipe! According to Mr. B, it is an extremely difficult prey to capture or kill, and requires running around the woods at night carrying a bag and making strange noises! I've been practicing for weeks, and I think I'm nearly ready for a real hunt! Mr. B promises to drive me to the location himself, and drop me off. All I have to do is call when I catch the snipe! Fun!

Submissions welcome
The Republican Gazette welcomes Emails to the Editor and press releases. All submitted items must include the name and contact information for the author of the article, and all articles will only be published with the author's name included. Thank you for reading and participating in The Republican Gazette, another of West Virginia's most biased publications.
All opinions are those of The Republican Gazette and its editor, Gary Abernathy, except letters or commentary signed by others, and do not reflect the views of anyone else, including clients of Abernathy Strategies.
He's politically smart, and notably educated, with a resume filled with examples of charitable work around the globe. But his choirboy public personna is contradicted by a mean streak and a 'me-first' attitude that makes few friends, and his personal life is a mystery to most.

Dean brings his comedy routine to WV Dems
National Democrat Party Chairman Howard Dean brought his act to Charleston Friday night, telling the crowd that the party will put West Virginia back in the Democrat column "where it belongs."
Apparently, Dean must think someone other than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama is going to win the Democrat nomination for president.
Dean apparently refrained from screaming or going into a rant during his visit.
Gov. Joe Manchin, who introduced Dean, also tried out a few new lines of his own, saying, “Democrats come in all different packages.” No one quite understands what that means.
According to The Charleston Gazette, Manchin, who is always a bottom line type of guy, intro'd Dean by saying, “The bottom line is I think everyone knows the country is looking for change.” And possibly even checks or money orders.
According to The Gazette, "The governor said the state party has tried to include all types of people with varieties of religious backgrounds."
Seriously? Was he referring to Methodists, Baptists, Lutherans, and Episcopalians?
I am anxious to see the West Virginia Democrat Party unveil its new Muslims for Manchin outreach program. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Cavaliers prove they're more than a one-man team
Just when the whole sports world witnessed a game indicating the NBA Eastern Conference Finals had come down to LeBron James vs. the Detroit Pistons, James' team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, decided to prove otherwise.
After King James dropped 48 points -- and the last 25 straight -- on the Pistons to win Game 5 on Thursday night, pundits said it would take a repeat performance to knock the Pistons out of the playoffs in Game 6.
But lo and behold, when Game 6 rolled around, James reverted to set-up man and placed his trust in his teammates, and they came through.
James continues to demonstrate a savvy and intelligent approach to the game that belies his tender 22 years. He could have once again taken matters in his own large hands from the opening tip, but even if the Cavs had emerged victorious, a one-man team in the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs would have resulted in four games and out.
Instead, James forced his teammates to step up, and to demonstrate they can win with LeBron taking only two shots in the entire first half.
Now, the Cavs are in the Finals for the first time in history. Go LeBron. Go Cavs.
