REPUBLICAN OF THE YEAR
McGraw tax $$ abuse goes on
Attorney General Darrell McGraw continues his practice of using tax dollars for blatant campaign purposes, as demonstrated by this bumper sticker.
Here are the 55 lawmakers who voted to let McGraw keep on abusing system
Whether its supplying county fairs with official office trinkets for use as hand outs at county fairs or producing bumper stickers that are nothing but campaign advertisements, Attorney General Darrell
McGraw continues abusing tax dollars for his reelection campaign.
During the June special session of the State Legislature, Del. Kelli Sobonya offered an amendment to the hotly-debated campaign finance bill that would have specifically prevented abuses like those engaged in regularly by McGraw. Thirty delegates voted for the amendment, but 55 opposed it.

Weeks tours I.L. Lee plant
Republican gubernatorial candidate Russ Weeks toured the I.L. Lee plant in Lester Tuesday evening. Weeks, right, is shown with I.L. Lee vice president of sales Jerry Piercy. The company's product line is for underground mining, primarily coal. The machines offered by the company include utility vehicles, personnel carriers, rockdusters and underground rescue chambers.

The website of Republican Attorney General candidate Dan Greear contains a fact sheet on how Darrell McGraw's scheme to settle a claim with Purdue Pharma and then personally decide where that money would be spent will end up costing the taxpayers of West Virginia.
While the Purdue Pharma settlement issue is complex, the fraud perpetrated here is straightforward, says the Greear campaign.
"Instead of Darrell McGraw giving settlement money back to the taxpayers, he is costing the state millions.  By not giving back the money to the state and by setting up a scheme to defraud the federal government of millions (millions that he would turn around and give to his campaign contributors via contingency fees), McGraw has once again tarnished the office of Attorney General," said a statement from the campaign.
OxyContin settlements, among others, are lining the pockets of McGraw versus being appropriated to the people of West Virginia, the campaign said. Read the details here.
